Lies Never Become Truth (No Matter How Many Times They Are Repeated)!

Lies Are Everywhere

“Liar! Liar! Pants on fire!” I remember hearing that sing-song phrase many times when I was a little girl in elementary school, especially if someone was caught in a lie. I’m sure I probably said it several times myself, too. Kids never liked being caught in lies, they still don’t.

At home, my little sister, Toni, and I would try to get each other in trouble and say those words in front of our mama. But it never worked! We would both get in trouble for being mean to the other one! The “lie” wasn’t as important to her as our thoughtless hearts.

I don’t know if that phrase is said very much these days, but I do know one thing for sure. The world is filled with lies. They have become more acceptable and sometimes even expected. And, like the title of this post, lies never will become truth, no matter how many times they are repeated.

The worst kind of lies are the lies that we hear about ourselves. Sadly, it seems the media tries to fill us with those every day. Our value seems to be measured by what we are told to wear, what makeup to use, what to eat, how to think, how to act. If we don’t fit their mold, then these lies tell us we aren’t good enough or we are not worthy to be loved, or we just don’t matter.

The Father of Lies Is Sneaky!

All of those lies come from the Father of Lies, Satan. This sneaky, evil manipulator even tried these very same tricks on Jesus himself!

When Satan met Jesus in the wilderness to tempt him, he came at Jesus with his best weapons. He was cunning. He didn’t use an army of demons, instead he quietly used lies to get Jesus to doubt who he was, to second-guess if he really was the Son of God. Maybe if he could convince Jesus to question his authority and answer to a lesser name, he wouldn’t live out the purpose God had for him.

Now remember, these were temptations. That means they were really things that could have swayed Jesus’s resolve. BUT, Jesus had his own arsenal of weapons to fight back.

When Satan came at Jesus three times with lies and manipulation, Jesus came back with the words of his Father in scripture (Deuteronomy 8:3, 6:16, and 6:13). Jesus fought what was spoken with what was written. We can use that same weapon — God’s word — for ourselves.

Satan Looks For Our Weaknesses

Satan tries that same evil plan with each of us. He knows how valuable our lives are to God. So, there he goes – using his best weapons of lies and doubt to make us question our worth and our purpose. And just like Jesus did, we need to confront his lies with the truth that our Father tells us in His Word.

The Enemy has told me so many lies about myself over the years. Many of those I listened to. Breaking the cycle of lies was difficult. Even at my age, I have to fight back with the truth of what God tells me I am! He always tells the truth!

I don’t know the ways the Enemy has lied to you. Maybe he has told you that you are not good enough. Has he made you question your worth? Maybe he says you will never be loveable. Or wanted. Maybe he says your sins can never be forgiven. Don’t believe his LIES, my dear one.

Lies Can Be Overcome With Truth

Let’s look at some TRUTHS about what God Himself says about you. He calls you:

CHOSEN! (1 Thessalonians 1:4). The Creator of the Universe made you for this moment, right now. He planned everything about you on purpose; you’re not just an accident. He has made your importance and your value secure. Even before He created this world, He knew the world needed you. (So don’t listen to Satan’s lies!)

GOD’S MASTERPIECE! (Ephesians 2:10). Every detail about you was designed by the Artist who created the heavens and the earth! Think about that. You are a work of art, made just as you are to accomplish the specific good works He has planned for you to do.  (The world tries to lie about your value, but they don’t have a clue!)

Even More Truths From God’s Word

Here are more important truths about you:

A FRIEND OF GOD! (John 15:15). You’re never alone. Jesus himself calls you his friend and promises to always be with you. He’s in your corner.

A CHILD OF GOD (Galatians 3:26). You don’t have to prove your worth or to whom you belong. He chose you as His child which means you are safe and loved. A daughter of the King! Period. (Satan’s lies can never take away your Father’s love!)

HIS TEMPLE (1 Corinthians 6:19). Maybe in the past you have been told lies about your body or you have made some poor choices that left you feeling lost and unworthy, but those are no longer a part of who you are! As His child, your body has become His temple, the place where the Holy Spirit dwells. Pure and accepted.

GREATLY LOVED (Romans 5:8). Even when you were running away from God, He was running after you! He loves you so much that He sent His own son, Jesus, to die for you just so you could be free and forgiven! He wanted to have a relationship with you as His precious child to enjoy life now and for all eternity.  Amazing, don’t you think?

You Are More! Don’t Forget That!

Our Father gave us so many more special names in His Word. I could go on for pages and pages. But I want you to remember that you are more, much more, than the lies you have been told! Don’t listen to them anymore.

This song by Lauren Daigle means so much to me. It is called, “You Say,” and it is about the messages that we need to believe about ourselves, not the lies! Believe the truth, dear one! https://youtu.be/sIaT8Jl2zpI?si=eGWdV6mY2TMiZTjX

Fill your life with Him – with His Word, with prayer, with worship. The more you align your life with His, the more you become like Him. You will revive your faith, refresh your soul, and fill your heart with joy. And those lies will have no power.

Prayer:

Dear Father, Thank you for giving me ways to defeat the lies of the Enemy with Your truth. I am chosen, loved and a masterpiece! I want to live my life believing Your truths every day. Give me strength to do that and to believe all that you say about me. There is power in Your Word. Draw me close to You. In Jesus name, AMEN.
