Weak? Oh No, Invincible!

He Does His Best Work When I Am Weak!

I’ve been pondering this morning. I like to ponder. I think God opens my eyes to truths that are hidden in places that might seem insignificant. I’m especially amazed to think about how He can use even a weak vessel like me.

I have realized that God has no concern about our weaknesses. When we are weak, He can actually do His best work. If we were strong, then our confidence and dependence would be in ourselves. We would take the credit and get the glory. He would have no use for us to do His work.

By the world’s standards, I am the least qualified to do what I do. But He tells the world, “Ha! Just watch this!” He has turned this weak retired grandma into a writer! But it’s His message in His way. Not mine.

My Weakness Allows Him To Show His Power!

In fact, when I first started writing my book, I kept hitting a wall. I wrote what I thought would sound good and gain attention. I wrote my words and thoughts. When I finally realized what I was doing, I did a lot of confessing and praying about my attitude. I asked God to please help me to get out of His way. I admitted my weakness and called on His strength. And guess what? When I did that, He took over. Words became sentences which became chapters. And I understood that His power couldn’t work if I was trying to do it my way.

Even when I write a new blog post, I am amazed when I just allow Him to use me. He takes over and the post just flows. To be honest, I have many half-written posts in my files that I tried and tried to complete. But I know that they were not the messages He wanted others to read.

He Chooses the Weak, Not The Mighty

You see, He reveals His power when He chooses us — weak and helpless and unimportant — to share His glory and strength with the world. And that is what we are called to do. So if we feel unqualified? Hurray! He qualifies us by His power, and the difference is felt by everyone we touch.

So, my dear one, what is He calling you to do? What is burning in your heart? Maybe you, too, feel unqualified to be used for His glory. That’s okay. Admit your weakness and call on His strength. Just open your heart and allow Him in. Let Him have His way. You will be surprised at what He will do. And you don’t need to be afraid, because He will not lead you where He can’t use you. I like this familiar saying: “God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called!” Trust His leading! This beautiful old hymn says just that. https://youtu.be/4PCQZDD6Tyo

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)

Prayer:

Dear Father, Keep humbling me and using me to be a conduit of your message. Help my dear friend who is reading this to find her purpose in You. All the glory, all the credit, and all the praise go to You, Lord!  In Jesus’ name. AMEN.
